Spring Fever is here !

March 19, 2009

Hello again everyone !
I hope you are all enjoying getting ready for Spring.
We have been.

My lilacs are getting ready to burst into bloom and I can't wait because I have a waiting list for my lilac soap and this year, i want to try my hand at a lilac perfume with them too.    I will take a ton of blossoms to infuse into my oils to capture the scent, but it will be worth it.

I also see my crocus is up and many other flowers and herbs are starting to peek their heads out of the dirt now.

This is going to be a very busy year for me.
I was invited to appear at a fundraiser for our local botanical garden - Fellow's Riverside Garden at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio and they asked me to bring lots of my products too.
The person in charge said that their focus this year is on natural health and wellness so she wanted my products to be showcased for the hundreds of patrons to have access to.

The event is called Girls Night Out and it is at the end of May.

I am so busy trying...

More about this All Natural Tribute Perfume

February 3, 2009

I have been thinking more about how I can best honor these people who meant so much to me.

A few ideas are rolling around in my head and it is picking up some steam.

I will soon have a basic formula in mind and go from there to formulate an All Natural Perfume designed in honor of my Grandparents.    I am calling it  "L & R - ' Let me call you Sweetheart ' " after their special love song.

Mom is helping me to brainstorm by reminding me what their favorite things were.    I remembered most of them, but she reminded me that as much as Grandma LOVED flowers - Grandpa got headaches around them and called them stinking weeds - LOL

And she reminded me that it was Grandpa who ate the white chocolate because he couldn't eat regular chocolate.    Grandma loved the little nonpareils.    Now I remember those - so that's where I got my love for dark chocolate - LOL

So, I want to have a blend that encompasses both of their likes and dislikes because in the same way they made  their long marriage work  - I will make this perfume blend work and hopefully design something that both of them would...

How I fight my genetic failings in the battle for my skin...

October 6, 2008

As I said in my last post - I, and many from my Dad's side of the family, have a genetic connective tissue disorder that can do quite a number on our skin.

All is not lost though.

Yes, it is true that I can't  "cure"  my connective tissue issues - BUT I can help my skin a little.

I started making my own perfumes, balms, lip balms, bath salts teas and other all-natural products and after a little while, I started to see some improvement in my skin.

I think the improvements are partly from NOT using store-bought toxic soups anymore AND partly from the herbs/flowers/oils... that I use in my products.    The natural word hold many helpful secrets for us - if we just look into it.

I am an Organic Gardener and will only use all-natural herbs/flowers/spices... in what I make for me, my family and my customers.

I will NEVER go back to store bought beauty products again !

My skin will still have its issues because it is genetic, but I do get good results from my all natural herbal salves and other things that I make.

Organically Yours,
Diana

The joys of Organic Gardening and Natural Living...

September 8, 2008

I just love being able to go out into the yard and make a salad or grab a snack right off of the tree !

My friends are amazed at how good a REAL peach tastes - LOL

I am slowly adding to my collection of organic herbs, flowers, fruits and nuts.

Let's see, I have:

English walnut trees and hazelnut bushes.   (I will have almond trees too as a dear friend sent me some organic almond seeds to start)

Plum, peach, pear, apple, and cherry - fruit trees.   (Maybe some others too, but I can't think of them right now)

I have way too many herbs and flowers to list, but I have a whole lot of lavender and roses as I use a bunch of them in my soaps, perfumes, balms, bath teas, sachets, neck pillows and eye masks/pillow ... .

I also love to cook from scratch so all of these really come in handy.   Look on my site for rose recipes.

I am trying to teach my kids about healthy living and Organic gardening.   They love to grow their own food and will often try something new just because they grew it themselves.

Our skin is much nicer too...

Lilacs in bloom

April 28, 2008

I noticed that my Lilacs are just starting to open.

I have a white Lilac and an Old-Fashioned purple Lilac.     Both of these were my Grandmother's flowers.

Once they are blooming just perfectly, I will harvest many of the petals to dry them for later use.

After they are dried, and I have a free moment or two - LOL, I will infuse these also.     I make both a "White Lilac" goat milk soap and and "Old-Fashioned Lilac" goat milk soap from my Grandmother's infused Lilacs.

If I can harvest enough blossoms, I might make a solid perfume from Lilacs as well.
