comimg soon - lavender perfume

December 1, 2008

I will soon have my All Natural Lavender Luxury Solid Perfume ready to list in my online store.

I finished it up today and started to label and shrinkwrap it.   I should have it ready soon.

It was made by infusing my organic lavender into oil and then adding a little lavender e.o. and a little pure beeswax.

More products listed and a little more info about my methods...

November 19, 2008

It seems the little glitch preventing me from list on monday has been resolved.

I was able to add several more of hand-sewn products that I make using real herbs and flowers inside.

I have also added some more all natural goat milk soaps, and perfumes too.
I make my own infused oils to get the scent for my perfumes and soaps.   I do use essential oils too when needed.  I use my own flowers - I dry them and then infuse them into expellor pressed (NOT solvent extracted) safflower oil.   This way, I get to have lilac scent products among other scents that are all natural.   Lilac (as well as jasmine...) does not give up its essential oils in the conventional manner. and I will NOT use a fragrance oil/absolute/concrete... as these are either all fake - or - as in the case of absolutes and concretes - the scent is real, but the method of extraction is using hexane or some other chemical that I want to avoid.   This is why I make all-natural products - so I can AVOID using most chemicals in my life.

It takes anywhere from 4 weeks to 4-5 months (if not more) to...

I have been featured on blog - The Selling Lounge

November 2, 2008

They included almost ALL of this !

---------------------------------------------

Here is a bit of my story :

I started making my own products because I wanted all natural/Organic products and I either could not find the ones I wanted or they were very expensive and most of them STILL had stuff in them that I did not want to use.

Several folks found out about my products and wanted some, then it became a business as more and more people wanted my all natural products.

Diana = I am a mom, an organic gardener, I LOVE herbs and herbal healing, I cook from scratch most of the time, I am a big recycler, I have lots of animals/pets, I collect vintage Singer sewing machines - especially old treadles - but I mostly sew by hand as it is very therapeutic (there is something wonderful about holding fabric in your hands and creating something fabulous with it), I do hand embroidery when I have a little time just because I enjoy it and it reminds of me the time I spent with my Grandma, I own a little gift shop and I specialize in all natural products and vintage items.

For my...

Get ready to pucker up baby !

October 7, 2008

Exfoliate your Lips AKA Lip scrub :

Today, I will talk about how-to get your lips ready to pucker up and keep them happy and healthy this winter and all year too.

I make and use a special lip balm with my organically grown red roses in it to exfoliate my lips.

Often,  people forget about taking care of their lips until they are already chapped, peeling and/or sore.

Why wait when it is so easy to take care of them evey day - just by wearing a pure chemical free lip balm ???

I wear my all natural Red Roses exfoliating lip balm at least once a week (I wear one of my other all natural handmade lip balms on the other days) and I never have any more problems with my lips.

The commercial lip balms and scrubs always irritated me - I think because of some of the chemicals in them.   This is why I started making my own.

So, keep your lips happy !

Use one of my Luxury Lip Balms or make your own - all natural only of course - and PUCKER UP BABY !

Organically Yours,
Diana

Pollute your OWN life and leave mine alone - LOL

September 25, 2008

I write a lot here in my blog/my website/my online store and in many of my groups/communities... about why I try to use ONLY all-natural foods, home spa products, perfumes... and most folks are alright with that.
Many people even thank me for the info as they honestly didn't know the difference.

I do get some who are very upset with me and say that they make "xyz" using fragrance oils or dyes... and they like it - so who am I to tell them any different !

I wasn't trying to tell them what to do (I was just trying to educate and give reasons for what I do) - but since they opened up that can of worms - go ahead and do what you want, but just make sure you stay on your side of the planet and do not pollute my little piece of it.

Oh, and by the way, don't call your stuff Natural if it isn't all-natural.   Having a drop of an essential oil in a batch of processed/bleached/refined... shea butter does NOT make it a natural product.   It is PROCESSED/BLEACHED/REFINED... so by definition, it is NOT natural.

Organically Yours,
Diana

The joys of Organic Gardening and Natural Living...

September 8, 2008

I just love being able to go out into the yard and make a salad or grab a snack right off of the tree !

My friends are amazed at how good a REAL peach tastes - LOL

I am slowly adding to my collection of organic herbs, flowers, fruits and nuts.

Let's see, I have:

English walnut trees and hazelnut bushes.   (I will have almond trees too as a dear friend sent me some organic almond seeds to start)

Plum, peach, pear, apple, and cherry - fruit trees.   (Maybe some others too, but I can't think of them right now)

I have way too many herbs and flowers to list, but I have a whole lot of lavender and roses as I use a bunch of them in my soaps, perfumes, balms, bath teas, sachets, neck pillows and eye masks/pillow ... .

I also love to cook from scratch so all of these really come in handy.   Look on my site for rose recipes.

I am trying to teach my kids about healthy living and Organic gardening.   They love to grow their own food and will often try something new just because they grew it themselves.

Our skin is much nicer too...

Another reason to support your local organic grower and to read Mother Earth News !

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -
Take Action: Support Sustainable Farming
by Alison Rogers

Of the many issues facing Americans today, few are more important than the quality and safety of our food.
Every day, many eat more and more processed, high-calorie foods with little nutritive value, trucked to us
from thousands of miles away.

Why?
Because those foods are more affordable.    And why are they more affordable, considering all the processing, packaging and transportation?
Because the companies that produce them receive financial assistance from us in the form of subsidies authorized by the U.S. farm bill.
Over the past decade, U.S. citizens paid more than $165 billion in tax dollars to the largest 20 percent of farms, according to the Environmental Working Group.    These farms operate on such a massive scale that limited attention can be focused on maximizing the health benefits of their product, and contamination is often unavoidable.
(Learn more about subsidies and the unhealthy effects of current U.S.
farm policy in How Farm Policy Affects Us All.)

The results are clear - those on low and middle income budgets have little choice but to stock up on foods that are typically full...

Organic Farming CAN feed the world

August 11, 2007

ORGANIC BYTES #113
Health, Justice and Sustainability News Tidbits
7/12/2007

      STUDY OF THE WEEK:
ORGANIC FARMING CAN FEED THE WORLD
A new University of Michigan study indicates that organic farming
is more productive than chemical and energy intensive industrial
agriculture.    Researchers noted 293 examples in previous studies that
corroborate the fact that organic farming is better than conventional,
but pointed out that biased studies funded by chemical producers have
clouded the public's understanding of the issue.    Corporate agribusiness has
spent decades repeating the mantra that chemical intensive agriculture
is necessary to feed the world.    But according to the new report, "Model
estimates indicate that organic methods could produce enough food on a
global per capita basis to sustain the current human population, and
potentially an even larger population, without increasing the
agricultural land base."

Why am I an Organic Gardener ?

April 20, 2007

I have been an organic gardener and reclycler for just about all of my life.
My Dad's mom was Cherokee and used to forage the woods.    She also taught us the best remedy for "not being able to stay out of the bathroom" - she would scrape the burnt toast over a cup of warm milk and tell you to drink it.    My Mom's mom was a real pioneer woman.    She could do just about anything with almost nothing to work with.
Most of the tips on my website came from them or were from my research that was inspired by them.

It is Soooooooooooooo important to be as chemical and artificial additive free as possible. Try to stay away from "fake" colors and sweeteners... .

I really do believe that many of the health problems are from the poisoning of our planet.

My family has a genetic disorder from my Dad's side of the family (Ehler's Danlos Syndrome or a form of Marfan Syndrome).    My Dad's family was from down south where they grew tobacco and other things.    I'm sure chemical fertilizers and tons of chemical pesticides were used for generations.    The land...

Master Gardener Program

March 28, 2007

I was considering taking the "Master Gardener" program until I found out that you HAVE to include all of the chemical stuff too.   You can't avoid telling people (when you are completing your volunteer duties) those horrid methods if a person asks about weed control, bug control...
You are allowed to teach both organic and chemical/artificial, but you are not allowed to avoid the latter.    I think that's ludicrous.   If you are going to promote chemicals..., then don't even bother teaching organic at all - because you are negating most of the benefits of natural/organic gardening.
This is why many folks think Organic doesn't work - because they use it in conjunction with chemicals or they don't allow enough...

Well, I was able to wrap about another 1/4 of my handmade soap on Wednesday.

It all smells Soooooooooo good!

Each bar of soap looks just beautiful too both unwrapped and wrapped with my label and my logo.

Hey, I almost forgot, I found a link for organic food recipes.
