More about this All Natural Tribute Perfume

February 3, 2009

I have been thinking more about how I can best honor these people who meant so much to me.

A few ideas are rolling around in my head and it is picking up some steam.

I will soon have a basic formula in mind and go from there to formulate an All Natural Perfume designed in honor of my Grandparents.    I am calling it  "L & R - ' Let me call you Sweetheart ' " after their special love song.

Mom is helping me to brainstorm by reminding me what their favorite things were.    I remembered most of them, but she reminded me that as much as Grandma LOVED flowers - Grandpa got headaches around them and called them stinking weeds - LOL

And she reminded me that it was Grandpa who ate the white chocolate because he couldn't eat regular chocolate.    Grandma loved the little nonpareils.    Now I remember those - so that's where I got my love for dark chocolate - LOL

So, I want to have a blend that encompasses both of their likes and dislikes because in the same way they made  their long marriage work  - I will make this perfume blend work and hopefully design something that both of them would...

Natural Perfumery as a tribute

January 30, 2009

I have made a perfume for my Mom as a tribute to her and her strength in fighting the cancer that is in her.

I have a perfume in my mind for my Grandma.

And now another perfumer has inspired me to try my hand at a perfume as a tribute to Grandpa too.    As soon as I get that 25th hour in a day, I'll have it done - LOL

Most of my fondest memories are from the times I spent with my Grandparents.    I remember them fondly often and it helps me to get through each day.

Saturday is hubby's last day at work.   I was supposed to be today, but they are letting him go in for half a day on Saturday (they also let him work 20 hours of overtime this week) so we can get a head start on our bills for next month.   After that - I don't know how we will do it, but we will manage - I always do thanks to the many lessons that my Grandparents taught me.

I am so gratful that I had time with them and that they instilled in me the lessons that they had learned while living and raising kids through...

comimg soon - lavender perfume

December 1, 2008

I will soon have my All Natural Lavender Luxury Solid Perfume ready to list in my online store.

I finished it up today and started to label and shrinkwrap it.   I should have it ready soon.

It was made by infusing my organic lavender into oil and then adding a little lavender e.o. and a little pure beeswax.

I just listed my Sandalwood & Vanilla Luxury solid Perfume

November 10, 2008

Mom loved her perfume !

November 8, 2008

I gave my Mom some of the perfume I made for her and she LOVED it !

It took a very long time to complete because of the amount of blossoms I had to pick, dry and infuse in oil.

Then I dried some of my peaches, plums... and added an infusion of that blend too.

Diana's Handmade All Natural Luxury Bath Salt "Teas" are now ready

October 8, 2008

I just made up several of my All Natural Luxury Bath Salt "Teas" in my two newest scents.

I made one to match my ~ Frankincense & Pink Roses ~ line of an All Natural Luxury solid Perfume and my All Natural Luxury goat milk soap.

I also made one to match my ~ Jasmine & Myrrh ~ line of an All Natural Luxury solid Perfume and my All Natural Luxury goat milk soap.

Of course, you do not need to buy them to go together, you can mix and match whatever you want - but many folks wanted a matching line so I made some.

I will soon be adding a new line with ~ Sandalwood & Vanilla ~ a most extraordinary blend that evokes warmth, comfort and just might make you want to growl like Cat Woman.

To shop, or just to see what I have to offer, see my online store here :

Pollute your OWN life and leave mine alone - LOL

September 25, 2008

I write a lot here in my blog/my website/my online store and in many of my groups/communities... about why I try to use ONLY all-natural foods, home spa products, perfumes... and most folks are alright with that.
Many people even thank me for the info as they honestly didn't know the difference.

I do get some who are very upset with me and say that they make "xyz" using fragrance oils or dyes... and they like it - so who am I to tell them any different !

I wasn't trying to tell them what to do (I was just trying to educate and give reasons for what I do) - but since they opened up that can of worms - go ahead and do what you want, but just make sure you stay on your side of the planet and do not pollute my little piece of it.

Oh, and by the way, don't call your stuff Natural if it isn't all-natural.   Having a drop of an essential oil in a batch of processed/bleached/refined... shea butter does NOT make it a natural product.   It is PROCESSED/BLEACHED/REFINED... so by definition, it is NOT natural.

Diana

All Natural Perfume, lip balm, body balms... - is yours - really ?

September 15, 2008

Some so-called "Natural" companies use concretes/absolutes and other components that were obtained with chemicals.

That is up to them as long as customers know the whole truth.

I make products using all natural herbs/flowers/fruits... that I infuse in oil... .

This is how I make my Lilac and Jasmine... soaps and perfumes.    There is no pure essential oil for these so I infuse them into oil fr weeks to capture the scent for my products.

I have spoken to a few perfumers who use a jasmine essential oil and they thought it was all-naural.   I showed them several articles from the experts that say - jasmine CAN be distilled from the absolute BUT some of the hexane that was used to obtain the absolute is likely still there.   Therefore I will NOT use it.

Some custumers don't care what is in anything - just that it is pretty and smells good.     That is their choice.

Sometimes, they don't buy my items because my focus is on natural with the beneficial properties and functional first and then scent and looks.

So,  when I get one of these customers, I refer them to other sellers and these other business owners do the...

New ??? hair care product on the market

September 10, 2008

This WEN sounds like it works very much like the shampoo soap bars that I and many others make.

All that have tried my soaps on their hair have said that did not need a conditioner on their hair except maybe a little of my solid perfume at the very ends to help control and scent the hair.

I agree SLS is a horrible chemical  to both people and the environment and that's why I do not use either.

The WEN Creme/mask/balm sound like the solid perfume that I and others make.   Mine can be used as a hair perfume too and it smells great-naturally.

I make and use my own hair/skin/household products that are all-natural and mine does not cost as much as the ones on TV AND I give the entire list of ingredients for mine.

An important question... before you buy a gift

September 5, 2008

There was a question on PoshPoints from someone who wants to start a "secret pal" swap or something at their workplace to get to know each other and the new co-workers too.

She asked the group for a list of what kind of questions would be good to ask her co-workers in order to have a fun/safe/get-to-know-you swap.

Here was my response to her:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A biggie would be:

'Do you have any allergies or sensitivities ? '

Why  should you ask ???

Many folks can't take scents anymore because of all of the fake stuff out there.

All of those artificial perfumes, cleaners, air fresheners... have really polluted the earth and caused many folks to have problems with breathing and/or skin issues.

Even the pure all-natural REAL stuff that I make can hurt someone if they are allergic to the flowers/herbs... that I use.

Even our foods are full of fake stuff like dyes, flavors, colors...  so they may not want a "Treat Day" with kind of stuff if your company has one.   Maybe they are into organic whole-foods ???

For me and my family, I avoid all of the fake stuff (foods/household products/personal products...) whenever possible.   I stay away...

Another golden beauty to add to my collection

September 3, 2008

I just bottled up the blend of my dried wild plum/magnolia/peach blossom infused oil.

Diana's infused oil with wild plum, magnolia, and peach blossoms

I used the blossoms from my own organically grown trees.

This little bottle holds a little over one cup.    Precious drops indeed !

I started this blend at the end of April and I just finished it on 9-1-08.

This took 4 months - so you see why my perfumes are indeed a Luxury item.
Still though, I charge less for my perfumes than many other Natural Perfumers out there do.   And I do not use absolutes or concretes... like most of them do .
Instead, I coax the scents - the very essence itself out of each of my flowers/fruits/spices/herbs... slowly and patiently to get a pure infused oil with no chemicals used and no additives either except for a little vitamin E to keep the oil from going rancid before it can be enjoyed by the wearer.

I will use some of this and some of at least one other of my infused oils in a special blend for my Mom.

Grandma's Honeysuckle

June 23, 2008

A branch of Grandma's honeysuckle with a basket of dried blossoms to be infused for perfume, soap, and perhaps a bath tea to match too.

We spent a few hours yesterday and about an hour today harvesting a whole bunch of Grandma's honeysuckle blossoms.

I still need a bunch more, but it started to rain so we had to quit for today.

I will use some for a perfume and soap too.

I might even use some in a Bath salt tea to match.

Sandalwood & Vanilla perfume is coming along

May 22, 2008

The Sandalwood & Vanilla blend is coming along nicely.

The vanilla beans started giving their essence almost as soon as I added them to the oil.

The sandalwood chips are just now starting to release a little scent to the mix.

In another week or 2, this blend might be finished.   We'll see.

Mom's perfume blend

May 20, 2008

The almost sickeningly sweet floralness of the fruit blossoms is gone now and it has taken on an earthy sweetness.   There is almost a nutty quality to it.

Very interesting !

I will be adding the dried organic fruit peels to the infusion in a few days to hopefully get the scent blend that she wants.

My Frankincense with Pink Roses solid perfume was a hit !

April 26, 2008

I took my tester container of Frankincense with Pink Roses solid perfume around to the vendors and some customers at the Hubbard Flea market today and all who tried it LOVED it.

They loved the soft scent, the feel of it on the skin, and especially the fact that my perfumes (as well as all of my handcrafted products) are all-natural and made with only the flowers/herbs/resins(filtered out after infusing)-safflower oil-pure beeswax.

When I told them that it takes about 3 or 4 weeks (not including harvesting the flowers by hand and drying them) to make a small batch of my perfume and that most of that time is used just to infuse the flowers and resins into the oil to scent it - they were amazed.

I let them know that I have a Jasmine & Myrrh blend infusing that should be ready soon, I swear a few of them almost swooned - LOL.

Delicate Magnolias

April 25, 2008

I spent an hour or so this morning harvesting magnolia flowers so that I can then dry them and infuse them in oil for a solid perfume.

I will have to gather another big basketfull or so more to have enough for even just one small batch of perfume - between 2 to 3 cups.

Magnolia has such a delicate scent.    I am still pondering what I will infuse with it in order to come up with a scent blend.

Ooooh, maybe I'll blend them with peach bossoms and chamomile blossoms.     I may try this out and if it works - I will make this my Mom's signature blend - only with her blessing of course.     I have been wanting to make a perfume for my Mom, but it has been tough because she is very sensitive to most flowers.    This blend however should be more on the fruity side with just a hint of floral notes.

As usual, this will be an all-natural handcrafted product - made by me - an Organic gardener.

So many blossoms, so little time

April 23, 2008

I gathered up a bunch of branches from a wild plum tree so I could infuse its blossoms in oil to capture the scent.

I have to wait until the blossoms are dry first so that the infusion will be sterile and wont get moldy.

I kept one of the smaller (3 foot) branches intact because it was so pretty that I just HAD to display it in a vase while it lasts.

These plum blossoms smell somewhat like honeysuckle.

This will make great perfume, soap, bath "Teas" ... .

I still need to gather even more as it takes this much just for ONE little batch.    All of these blossoms are only enough to infuse 1 or 2 cups of oil  !!!

This is why natural products cost more, but it is so worth it.    The scent is awesome and this method is very environmentally friendly as I have to thin out the blossoms on my fruit trees or the trees will break under the weight of all of that fruit.

Look Ma, no chemicals here:Wild plum tree branch and some blossoms to be infused for scent

New product - Solid Perfume

April 7, 2008

I am working on my next new product.

I will be adding Luxury solid perfumes to compliment the rest of my all-natural products.

Early this morning, I started infusing a Jasmine-Myrrh blend as well as a Pink Rose-Frankincense blend.

These will each take a few weeks to allow for a smooth and balanced marrying of the infusion of scents.

After I get to the perfect scent balance that I am looking for, I will then strain out the flowers and other aromatics and add pure beeswax to get the right consistancy and then pour into little perfume compacts and allow to set up/harden to complete these two Luxury solid perfumes.
