When your body ages faster than you...

October 2, 2008

I was talking to someone in one of my online groups about how as we reach age 55+ - our skin begins to lose its elasticity, meaning it doesn't spring back like it shoul/used to.

Several had done the "pinch test" to how quickly the skin on the back of your hand springs back... .

Most of you who read my blogs regularly already know about my health issues, so I won't go into long details here again.   I will just put what I wrote in answer to the group's comments about aging and how it affects our bodies/looks.

Here is what I said:

" I can soooooo relate.
I have a connective tissue disorder (either a form of Ehler's Danlos or a form of Marfan Syndrome) and almost ALL of my skin, muscles, tendons.... are stretched out and do NOT go back.   This is why my hands, feet, legs... do not allow me to work how I want to work.
I am 6' tall have size 13 feet and was always as strong as an ox.
I used to be able to pick up the front end of a pick-up BY MYSELF, now it takes all I have...

All Natural Perfume, lip balm, body balms... - is yours - really ?

September 15, 2008

Some so-called "Natural" companies use concretes/absolutes and other components that were obtained with chemicals.

That is up to them as long as customers know the whole truth.

I make products using all natural herbs/flowers/fruits... that I infuse in oil... .

This is how I make my Lilac and Jasmine... soaps and perfumes.    There is no pure essential oil for these so I infuse them into oil fr weeks to capture the scent for my products.

I have spoken to a few perfumers who use a jasmine essential oil and they thought it was all-naural.   I showed them several articles from the experts that say - jasmine CAN be distilled from the absolute BUT some of the hexane that was used to obtain the absolute is likely still there.   Therefore I will NOT use it.

Some custumers don't care what is in anything - just that it is pretty and smells good.     That is their choice.

Sometimes, they don't buy my items because my focus is on natural with the beneficial properties and functional first and then scent and looks.

So,  when I get one of these customers, I refer them to other sellers and these other business owners do the...

The joys of Organic Gardening and Natural Living...

September 8, 2008

I just love being able to go out into the yard and make a salad or grab a snack right off of the tree !

My friends are amazed at how good a REAL peach tastes - LOL

I am slowly adding to my collection of organic herbs, flowers, fruits and nuts.

Let's see, I have:

English walnut trees and hazelnut bushes.   (I will have almond trees too as a dear friend sent me some organic almond seeds to start)

Plum, peach, pear, apple, and cherry - fruit trees.   (Maybe some others too, but I can't think of them right now)

I have way too many herbs and flowers to list, but I have a whole lot of lavender and roses as I use a bunch of them in my soaps, perfumes, balms, bath teas, sachets, neck pillows and eye masks/pillow ... .

I also love to cook from scratch so all of these really come in handy.   Look on my site for rose recipes.

I am trying to teach my kids about healthy living and Organic gardening.   They love to grow their own food and will often try something new just because they grew it themselves.

Our skin is much nicer too...
